One of the nicest spots to walk, run or bike in York Region is the Rogers Reservoir Conservation Area. There are several different places to start your hike. One great way to explore Rogers Reservoir Conservation Area in East Gwillimbury is to park on Green Lane (by the driving range).
If you take the trail north, you will be walking beside a meandering river, the Holland River. You can stop at a bench and enjoy the view. You are guaranteed to see beautiful nature and many birds. The boardwalk, bridge and locks at Second Concession is an exciting part of the nature experience.
According to the Town of East Gwillimbury page about the Rogers Reservoir, the trail “follows the route of the abandoned ‘Ghost Canal System’ of the early 1900s, and is a part of the Nokiidaa Trail system linking the Towns of East Gwillimbury, Newmarket, and Aurora.”
