They were a little nervous. But the bedtime stories and songs organized by Ms. Jodi at the Mount Albert Branch of the East Gwillimbury Public Library seemed to settle them. They were a hodgepodge group – among them two rabbits, a reindeer, a frog, a Maplelea Canadian Girl doll, a dog, an infant Cabbage Patch Doll, and a friendly-looking bear who was actually born at the library the week before at the Holland Landing Branch’s Teddy Bear-making workshop.
It was amazing! I made friends and felt brave. It was lots of fun!
The members of the adorable group – united in their excitement over a first sleepover experience – played chess, rode the library cart, had a campfire, did some work on the computer. Best of all, they read books. See Stuffy Sleepover 2014 for more photos. They were reunited with their pint-sized owners the next day. “I was happy to be back together with my owner,” said one bear. “But I will never forget the experience I had at the library.” Nor will the library staff ever forget the special, silly crew who joined them for a night.
